Another Old White Media Guy Rags on Bloggers

I guess it's safe to say that the paid media feel a little threatened by political bloggers.
I just heard Mike Barnicle, filling in for Chris Matthews, call bloggers "these nitwits with their computers."
I guess nitwits with computers - you know, those people who read newspapers and books and who watch and listen to the programs that these media celebrities grace and who have made those celebrities household names, at least in the nitwit households, by blogging about them, you know...the people who buy the things that are advertised on those television and radio shows.....well, they just don't count for nuthin' according to the guys who get paid to be on the inside, part of the power elite.
I guess it makes Barnicle feel smarter and more important to put down people who are actively engaging in this democracy of ours.
I'm guessing though, when Barnicle or any of these elitist, well-paid media pundits make negative comments about bloggers, it says more about them than it does about the bloggers.

15 Erect Nipples:
Bingo. They hate anyone listening to anyone who is not them.
I'm a nitwit with a computer. All those years trying to find myself and ol' Mikey B had the answer all along.
Nice of him. Really.
Does that make you a titwit with a computer? I mean, I had to ask.
well if you had been nicer about it I may have considered your opinion but obviously your a nitwit :)
NITWITS UNITE (can I be second?)
don't you know that you are not allowed to have an opinion--only they are because they are much, much more important ;D
"Nitwit"? Coming from the guy who fills in for Tweedy? Pot call kettle black much?
There's a great rant in the movie "Network" about large corporations owning the media:

I've got your "nitwit" right here, buddy. At least bloggers are free to speak their mind and actually report the (real) news.
I've had this sense about Mike Barnicke for a long time, he always seems to be enjoying some kind of inside joke. Snide and smarmy, WTF does he have to feel superior about?
Poor Mike Barnicle. The growth of blogging lifted the curtain on his secure little world as a "columnist." Because it turns out all these years he's simply been a nitwit with a typewriter.
Someone needs to the scrap the Barnicles off the media dinghy.
He makes me miss Chris Matthews.
This nitwit with a computer has never heard of Barnicle.
When half of America gets their political news from The Huffington Post and The Daily Show, something has gone wrong with mainstream tv pundits.
Perfectly said. (Fran called you a titwit...tee hee!)
So, what, Barnicle uses an old IBM typewriter when he fabricates his stories?
From Wikipedia:
"A complete review of all of Barnicle's thousands of Globe columns revealed an alleged fabrication in a column from three years earlier, dated October 8, 1995. The column recounted the story of two sets of parents with cancer-stricken children. When one of the boys, a black child, died, the parents of the other boy, a white child who had begun to recover, sent the dead child's parents a check for $10,000 USD. When the Globe could not locate the people in the story, who had not been publicly identified, Barnicle insisted that the story was true. He said he did not obtain the story from the parents, but from a nurse. Days after Barnicle resigned over the controversy, Patricia Shairs stepped forward to say that the 1995 column was the story of her son and another child at Children's Hospital, but as she had not spoken directly with Barnicle, the column contained some factual errors..."
Just. Sayin'.
I'll bet you dollars to donuts that Barnicle does not know how to operate a computer, much less set up his own blog.
Quaker Dave beat me to the punch. As I recall, Barnicle got bounced from his long term gig for plagiarism. But he still gets to spew shit on the tv. Just saying.
