Stuck in Reverse

December Sunrise with Plant Bowen 5 This One

We can't go on together
with suspicious minds.
Or our insatiable thirst for fossil fuels.

An interesting conversation about how we could reduce our consumption and dependence.

  1. Unfortunately, large sections of policymaking are flat-out owned by petroleum producers and refiners. Until they are chased out of the policy arena, we won't get anywhere.

Anyone who lived through 1974 should have known what did happen, would surely happen again. But people seem to prefer the lies about abundance to the reality of the need to change.

    1. So very true. It all keeps coming back to the fact that we need taxpayer funded elections. Until that's fixed, there will always be a profit motive fucking up the system.

  3. The oil industry routinely tells lies. True believers expressing their certainty that cheap sweet crude will never run out are like Linus keeping his lonely vigil in the pumpkin patch.

On another note: is it "Bold Faced Lies" or "Bald Faced Lies"???

    1. But it's about jobs, Anita! It's not about the stock that Congressional members hold in the companies that are set to make money on this deal.

    2. I've seen it both ways. Bold faced lies, bald faced lies. Let's to crazy and use both.

  5. JollyRoger beat me to it.

Until we put people ahead of corporations, we will continue to soil our own beds.

  8. It's so true. And me with my 1.5 hour commute (on a good day?) I'm a huge part of the problem.
